Chilly temperatures and threatening skies didn’t deter AquaSol year-round swimmers from Placerville from a great day of swimming at Woodland ’s Arctic Challenge Championships, November 30, 2007. Overall, the team scored 21 best times with seven new time standards. Coleman Goode, 16, voted “Swimmer of the Month” obtained new time standards in five events: 200 backstroke, 200 breaststroke, 400 IM, 50 freestyle and 100 butterfly; and garmered first place finishes in the 1650 freestyle and 100 backstroke. About Goode, Coach Steve Stedmore said, “Coleman handled the inclement weather really well and did a great job racing at Woodland . He is well on his way to making USA Sectional times in the more difficult events.” Kevin Mertz, 12, took first place in the 100 freestyle, 200 freestyle, 100 butterfly, 200 IM and 500 freestyle, and swam for a new time standard in the 50 freestyle. 16-year-old Daniel Levine achieved a new time standard in the 100 back. Although she didn’t attend the Woodland meet, 10-year-old Emily Gudeman was selected by AquaSol coaches as Worker of the Month. “Emily has great attendance. She always does her best in practice and is improving every day,” said her coach, Janine Joy.
