AquaSol swimmers post PRs and new time standards GABI AVALLONE was named the AquaSol swimmer of the month after improving her times in all her races at the Gobbler Classic in Folsom. Gabrielle Avallone, 14, was chosen as the AquaSol swimmer of the month for November after recording 100 percent personal best times at the Gobbler Classic and new “BB” standards in the 50- and 500-yard freestyle races. “Gabi has worked harder than she ever has and is a welcome addition to AquaSol,” coach Steve Skidmore said. “She has a great attitude and has embraced year-round swimming.” Julian Taylor, 8, posted a new A time in the 7-8 boys 25 freestyle, dropping a second off his previous time to touch in 16.50 seconds. Caroline Mertz, 10, posted two new A times in the 100 freestyle (1:10.95) and the 200 free (2:32.24). Quinn Beattie, 14, swam to two new A times in the 50 free (28.45) and the 200 free (2:13.24). Kevin Mertz, 13, posted new AAA times in the 1,000 and 500 freestyle races with times of 10:39.58 and 5:05.55 respectively. He also achieved AA times in the 100 butterfley (1:00.46) and the 200 individual medley (2:15.73). Kirstie Sanew, 16, achieved a new AA time in the 400 IM of 4:57.04, chopping five seconds off her previous best time. Andrew Hull,17, swam to new A times in the 50 free (24.82), the 100 free (53.67) and new BB standards in the 500 free (5:33.81) and the 200 butterfly (2:17.73). Swimmers who recorded BB times in their events include Molly Covington, 100 backstroke (1:33.06) and 50 free (35.59; Dane Neves, 10, 200 free (2:49.13 - cut 20 seconds off previous best), and 100 back (1:28.23); Shane Marshall, 9, 50 back (41.88); Kyle Covington, 12, 200 free (2:24.59) and the 100 butterfly (1:20.49; Marissa Garcia, 11, 50 fly (34.93); and Mikaela Fuller, 14, 200 free (2:19.80). Swimmers who posted 100 percent best times in all their events include Sofia Garaygay, David Mertz, Molly Covington, Arianna Thomas, Hannah Covington, Garcia, Alexandra Nisson, Jacqueline Nisson, Haley Owens, Chris Bodle, Avallone, Beattie, Kevin Mertz and Riley Heryet. Arianna Thomas was selected as the AquaSol worker of the month. “Arianna has a great attitude in practice. She is willing to try new events at meets and face her fears head on,” coach Janine Joy Eight AquaSol swimmers competed in their first USA meet including Gabriel Taylor, Will McGregor, Anna Christeson, Emma McGregor, Bodle, Mollie Bohlen, John Serjeantson and Dominic Stevenson.
