Five members of the USA AquaSol year-round swim team traveled to the Speedo USA Swimming Sectional Championships in Clovis. There were 600 swimmers competing, representing 190 teams from California and Nevada.

Mikaela Macklin, 16, Morgan Lloyd, 16, and Aaron Vaccaro, 17, all qualified for the Junior Nationals in Columbus, Ohio, Dec. 10-14.

“This was the really big news,” AquaSol coach Steve Skidmore said about the three qualifiers. “This meet was huge success for our senior swimmers. We put up some really fast times at this meet as a result of a very good training year.”

Macklin was the only AquaSol finalist. She took 10th with a season-best 2 minute, 38.41 second time in the 200-meter breaststroke. She also swam to a personal best time in the 100-meter freestyle, touching in 59.38.

Coleman Goode, 17, improved all of his times, including the 200 individual medley (2:18.13); the 400 IM (4:54.19); 100 breaststroke (1:11.59, which was a new sectional cut); the 200 breaststoke (3:34.91, new sectional cut); and the 100 freestyle, a personal best 57.48.

Lloyd also improved all of his times. He swam the 100 butterfly in 58.35, earning his first Junior National qualifying time. He swam personal bests in the 50 freestyle (25.71) and the 200 butterfly (2:15.83) and achieved a new sectional cut in the 100 freestyle (55.84).

Vaccaro improved in both his events, swimming a 25.13 in the 50 freestyle and a 1:02.33 in the 100 butterfly. Riley Heryet, 16, swam to a new sectional cut in the 50 freestyle (28.91); and earned personal bests in the 100 freestyle (1:03.04), the 200 IM (2:38.14) and the 100 butterfly (1:10.01).Meet Results
