Senior Swimmers compete at Senior Western Zones

Members from the Senior Group representing the Aquasol Swim Team traveled to Clovis, Ca. to compete in the Senior Western Zone Championship meet, July 31st - August 4th, 2013.  This was a trials and finals meet that was competed in long course meters.  There were over 1000+ swimmers competing representing teams from 10 different states.  The meet was large enough that they actually used two different facilities to run the preliminary sessions.  Once the swimmers were determined for the nightly finals session then the meet reconvened at one facility, Clovis North High School.

Representing Aquasol at this meet was Matthew Coen, Kaela Marcus, Jason Williams, and Samantha Woo.  The swimmers did a great job competing sometimes waiting until heat 22 to race their event.  Each swimmer raced to a best time and quite often won their heats.  They faced stiff competition each day and were exposed to a lot of great racing!  Matthew Coen dropped time in the 50/100/ 200 freestyle and the 100 butterfly.  Kaela Marcus dropped time in the 400 IM and made finals in the 100/ 200 breaststroke.  In the 200 breaststroke she placed 20th overall out of 123 swimmers and in the 100 breaststroke she placed 15th out of 136 swimmers.  Jason Williams swam best times in the 50/ 100/ 200 freestyle and Sammie Woo dropped time in the 100/ 200/ 400 freestyle!

The meet was a great success for the swimmers and the team.  The Senior group is excited to build off of this meet and to continue moving forward.
