Haley Owens & Samantha Woo sign letters of intent!

Haley Owens and Samantha Woo, Senior group swimmers with the Aquasol Swim Team, have announced signing their National Letter of Intent to attend and swim next year at the collegiate level.  Haley Owens has signed with Georgetown University and Samantha Woo has signed with Fresno Pacific University!

Haley Owens has been swimming with Aquasol for her entire year around swimming career.  Haley has a long list of highlights in both USA Swimming and high school swimming.  During her USA Swimming career, to name a few achievements, she achieved a Junior National bonus standard in the 100 meter breaststroke, was named to the 2010 Sierra Nevada Western Zone Team, qualified for and competed in the 2010, 2011 and 2012 Sectional Championships making the finals in the 100 meter breaststroke at the 2012 meet and took 1st place and set the Sierra Nevada record for the 200 meter breaststroke at the SN Junior Olympics Championships in 2011.

Haley has competed for El Dorado High School lettering in 2011, 2012 and 2013.  In 2011, she was the girls Freshman of the Year for El Dorado High School.  In the May- 2011 CIF Sac-Joaquin Sections she placed 3rd in the 100 Breaststroke and 12th in the 200 IM and the May-2012 CIF Sac-Joaquin Sections she placed 2nd in the 100 Breaststroke and 7th in the 200 IM for the Frosh/Soph division.

In 2011-2012 she was honored as a Scholastic All-American, achieving a 4.17 GPA.

Haley plans to study Biology/ Pre-Medicine while attending Georgetown University.

Samantha Woo started swimming with the Sierra Marlins Swim Team at the age of seven and began swimming with Aquasol in June of 2013.  While training and competing with the Sierra Marlins she was recognized as the Most improved Swimmer for 2005 and the Sierra Marlins Swimmer of the Year for 2011.  She has qualified for and attended the Speedo Gold Sectional Championships in multiple events.

In 2012, Samantha had a serious injury to her knee that required two knee surgeries during the year.  While the injury did sideline her for the year it did not dampen her spirit or her will to make it back and continue swimming.  With a lot of hard work and rehab she has been back in the water training and racing to a level faster than before her injury.

She has been attending and competing for Ponderosa High School.  She is has been a finalist at the CIF Sac-Joaquin Sections for Ponderosa high school in 2011 and 2013.  She is currently the school record holder in the 50 Freestyle and 100 Freestyle.

While attending Fresno Pacific University Samantha is thinking of studying English and/or Criminology.

Congratulations to both athletes and their accomplishments.  The team looks forward to watching their progressions and growth as they continue their education and swimming careers at the University level.
