Senior AquaSol swimmers compete at the Spring Speedo Sectional Championships!

Over the past weekend, four senior swimmers from AquaSol traveled to the College of Marin in Novato, CA to compete in the Speedo Sectional Championships!  The meet was contested in long course meters and was a trials and finals meet!  Despite inclement weather with strong winds, cold temperatures, and intermittent rain the athletes competed well showing a lot of perseverance and grit!

The athletes representing AquaSol were Gabe Hudgens, Cruz Lopez, Lars Osen and Oliver Zhang.  The team competed in the 400-medley relay taking 8^th place overall and competed in the 400 free relay taking 9^th place overall!  Individually Gabe Hudgens competed in finals in the 50 freestyle (taking 1^st place in the bonus final), the 100 freestyle (taking 3^rd place in the consolation final) and the 200 freestyle (taking 4^th place in the consolation final).  Cruz Lopez competed in the finals in the 100 breaststroke and 200 breaststrokes.  Cruz won both consolation finals.  Cruz also competed in the 200 IM as a bonus event and dropped time to make the “A” cut for the Sectional Championships.  Lars Osen competed in three events dropping time in all three events.  Lars also picked up two new “A” cuts for the Sectional Championships in the 100 butterfly and the 200 IM.  Oliver Zhang competed in both relays and swam two-time trial events.  Oliver posted a best time in the 100 butterfly and earned his first “A” Sectional cut in the 50-meter freestyle!  Oliver then led off the 400 free relay and earned another “A” cut in the 100-meter freestyle!

Overall, the team finished in the 14^th place!  Congratulations to the team and for putting together a tremendous effort in less-than-ideal conditions!
