Senior swimmers excel at spring Speedo Sectional Championship meet!

Swimmers from the AquaSol senior group competed at the 2025 California Nevada Speedo Sectional Championships in Roseville, Ca over the weekend (February 28^th – March 2^nd).  The meet had forty teams and over 400 swimmers competing at the competition.

Eight swimmers from AquaSol represented the team at the championships:  women – Gianna Bargiacchi, Ava Bui, Sydney Bui and Natalie Szegedy; men – Gabe Hudgens, Cruz Lopez, Lars Osen and Quinn Sammon.

After four days of competition the team earned one of it is highest point totals in recent history scoring 253 points.  The team finished the meet in 13^th place overall!

The women competed in the 200 Free Relay dropping nearly two seconds from their entry time, placing 15^th overall and requalifying for the Sectional Championships!  Natalie Szegedy returned to competition on Saturday and Sunday competing in the time trials for the 50 and 100 freestyle posting best times in both events!

The men competed in all four relays dropping time in each of the relays.  For the 200 Free Relay the team placed 8^th overall, for the 400 medley relay the team placed 5^th overall, for the 200 medley relay the team placed 8^th overall and for the 400 free relay the team placed 9^th.

On the men’s side the team had numerous best times, swims in finals and team records!  Lars Osen made finals in the 100 breaststroke, 100 butterfly, 200 butterfly and 200 IM.  In the 200 butterfly, Lars finished in 8^th place and set a new 17-18 age group team record (1:52.54).  In the last event of the meet, Lars dropped over two seconds in the 200 IM and broke the team record posting a 1:54.45.  Gabe Hudgens competed in finals in all four of his individual events making the A final in each of his events. He posted nine best times over the weekend breaking 1:40.00 (1:39.54) in the 200 freestyle; going :20.97 in the 50 free and :45.54 in the 100 freestyle.  Quinn Sammon returned to competition after taking a fifteen month break and matched his best times in the breaststroke events and posted a new best time in the 100 free (:48.61).  He posted all best times while competing in the four relays and helping the team to all of their top 10 finishes!  Cruz Lopez posted best times in both breaststroke events, the 50 freestyle and the 200 IM.  Cruz reached the A final in both the 100 & 200 breaststroke finishing 8^th & 7^th respectively.  For the 100 breaststroke Cruz lowered his own team record twice in the prelims and finals posting a :55.27.

Coach Brandon also competed in the meet racing in the 100 & 200 breaststroke events.  Coach Brandon posted season best times in both events finishing in the top 25!

Congratulations to all of the senior AquaSol swimmers and a job well done competing at the Sectional Championships.  The team did a tremendous job racing each session and supporting one another throughout the weekend!
